Effective July 1, 2008, annual resident salaries are as follows:

Resident salaries at USF are maintained at the 75th percentile nationwide. In addition, Florida has a relatively low cost of living and there is no state income tax. Benefits include health and life insurance (optional family coverage), disability, and malpractice coverage. |
Additional funds provided by the department include:
Florida Licensure and USMLE Part III (and bi-annual license renewal)
Review course expenses ( for two courses, usually Huda for physics and Duke University for general diagnostic radiology)
AFIP registration fee of $1,500 as well as a housing stipend of $2,000
$750 per year for books
Incoming PGY-2 residents will also receive a $250 allowance for a Palm Pilot
The department will also pay the expenses for residents who present research at national meetings
Each year, PGY-1 residents receive two weeks of vacation and one week of sick leave, PGY-2 through
PGY-5 receive three weeks of vacation time and one week of sick leave. The department also provides
PGY-2 and PGY-3 residents with one educational week, PGY-4 residents with two educational weeks,
and PGY-5 residents with three educational weeks.
