H. Lee Moffitt Cancer Center / James A. Haley VA Hospital

One individual is on primary call each evening from home by long-range beeper to cover both hospitals. Attending radiologists are available for consultation and for all interventional procedures. The resident covers all emergent studies, but is not required to read routine studies on weekends. Attending staff at both institutions cover this duty. Teleradiology is available for non-contrast studies.

Tampa General Hospital

A night float system provides on-call coverage with residents rotating on weekly blocks beginning Sunday evening at 8:00 p.m. and ending at approximately 8:00 a.m. on the following Saturday. Each shift typically ends around 8:00 a.m. the following morning. Weekend call is covered in three 12 hour shifts by the general resident pool. Some weekend service days are provided by radiology residents (with in-house attending supervision) after the first academic year.

There is no night call for residents rotating at All Children's Hospital.

Beginning in July 2007, resident call duties will consist of 2 weeks of Moffitt/VA call and 2 weeks of Tampa General Night float coverage each year during the four years of training in diagnostic radiology (PGY-2 through PGY-5).
